Privacy Policy
CorkIQ helps you pair wine and food. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, used to sign you in with a 6-digit code, or the identifier Apple or Google gives us if you use those sign-in options.
- Photos you scan (wine labels, menus, wine lists, dishes): sent to Google's Gemini AI service to read them and return a result. CorkIQ does not save your photos on our servers. We keep a short text summary of each scan (for example the wine name) so we can show your history and enforce the free monthly scan limit. Google handles photos under its own API data terms.
- Your content: saved wines and recipes, scan history, Your Palate tasting notes and taste summary, budget ceiling and dietary settings, stored in your account so they follow you across devices.
- Feedback: anything you send through Send feedback, plus an anonymous install identifier.
- Usage analytics (PostHog): app events (for example "scan completed") tied to a random user id. We never send your email, photos or typed notes.
- Purchases: handled by Apple or Google and RevenueCat. We receive whether you are Premium. We never see your card details.
- Ads (free tier only, AdMob): Google may collect a device advertising identifier and show ads based on it where you allow that. Premium removes ads.
How we use it
To identify wines, rank pairings, show your history, learn your taste, enforce scan limits, fix bugs, understand which features people use, and run the subscription.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not show scores we made up. Wine scores are real averages of drinker ratings from an open dataset; when we have none, we say "Not yet rated".
Sharing
Service providers that process data for us: Supabase (database and sign-in), Google (Gemini AI, AdMob), PostHog (analytics), RevenueCat (purchases), Resend (sign-in emails), Spoonacular (recipe lookups). We share only what each needs.
Your choices
- Delete your account and data: Profile > Delete account in the app, or see how to delete your account.
- Ads: manage ad personalization in your device settings, or go Premium.
- Analytics: email us to opt out.
Retention
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Feedback is kept to fix issues. Deleted accounts are removed from active systems immediately.
Children
CorkIQ references alcohol and is for adults of legal drinking age in their country. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.
